An In-Depth Guide To Taiwan Tikuanyin Tea

Tikuanyin is semi-oxidized at a higher range of oxidation, normally between 15% and 50%. The tea comes with an unique orchid-like aroma and tastes rich, fruity, and smooth. In addition, it gives off a satisfying sweet aftertaste.

Tikuanyin tea can be made from different tea varietals as long as the Tikuanyin production process is followed. Only the tikuanyin tea that is produced from Tikuanyin varietals can be called Zheng Cong Tikuanyin tea. Zheng Cong Tikuanyin sells for twice as much than Tikuanyins since it carries a distinctive varietal aroma.

Most of the first grade Tikuanyins are Zheng Cong Tikuanyin that are produced with special care allowing it to join tea competitions. Tikuanyin is popular among experienced tea lovers in Taiwan. Muzha and Shimen are two major regions that produce Tikuanyin tea.

About the Author: Mr. Fu is an experienced tea farmer in Pinglin Township, Taipei County. He has been growing tea for over 25 years and has won many prizes in tea competitions.
