Lugu tea region is located on Lugu Township in Nantou county. Tea plantations are spread in between 600 to 800 meter above sea level. Qing Xin Oolong, Jinxuan, Cuiyu and Sijichun are most popular varietals in this region. Lugu tea region is one of the most traditional and representative tea regions of Taiwan and it’s where Dongding oolong tea is originated from.

Due to popularity of Dongding oolong tea and great tea tradition of the region, Lugu tea competitions always attract a large number of spectators and attendees. During the spring time, Lugu Dongding oolong tea competition are held around the beginning of June and the winter competitions are held near the beginning of January.
