Mingjian tea region
is located on Mingjian township in Nantaou county. It is one of the major tea regions in Taiwan.
Tea plantations are spread between 300 to 400 meter above sea level. The major
tea varietals
produced in those regions are Sijichun, Jinxuan and Cuiyu.
The region is one of the most productive ones in Taiwan. Approximately, half of Taiwan tea production occurs in the region.
Efficiency and productivity of the tea are the most notable characteristics of local tea farmers.
The region is the most mechanized and automated one in Taiwan. Raw tea leaves collected from tea plants today can be properly processed and sold as tea at streets the following day.
Sijichun oolong tea,
jinxuan oolong tea and
cuiyu oolong tea
are the most representative teas and mostly picked from machines. While available in large quantities and great prices, mingjian tea comes with excellent quality.
This is one of the reasons mingjian tea is very popular in Taiwan and highly recommended to be an everyday tea.
