Wenshan tea region is located in Taipei county and it is the home of
pouchong tea.
The region is one of the most traditional and major tea regions in Taiwan. Tea plantations are spread between 200 to 800 meters above sea level.
An assortment of varietals are grown in this region, such as QingXin Oolong, Jinxuan, Cuiyu, Sijichun and Damanzhong.
The region manufactures a great selection of teas, with
pouchong tea and
baihao oolong tea
the most popular ones of the region.
Shiding township and Pinlin township are major tea production areas.
Pinlin is one of the most famous tea township on the island and nearly 90% of the locals work as tea farmers.
The location of Pinlin is near a major reservoir of north Taiwan.
City government laws protect the township from pollution allowing the teas to be natural and healthy. Mountainsides, clean environment,
humidity and warm weather makes the township a perfect place for tea growing. Pinlin tea farmers have been planting tea since the Qing Dynasty.
